Christmas can never come too early...
This looks like a quality film. Although I am not willing to buy into the hype that this will be the next biggest evangelistic opportunity. I have already seen that kind of hype and expectation fall short with the Davinci Code, and even with the Passion (a lot of hype and buzz, but no apparent, long lasting fruit). I do think it can provide an opportunity to create conversation though, and certainly remind us and our neighbors of the true focal point of Christmas - Immanuel, God with US!

Thanks for the post. THis is interesting, especially because it humanizes Mary and Joseph. They had the same struggles we have and were just as human as the next person. This will proabably not be a popular movie with Catholics due to the human substance of Mary. It looks good, although for cinematic effect I am sure there will be additions and/or discrepancies.
Just an FYI (and I don't think this affects the story or quality of the work just as I didn't think that having a gay person in End of the SPear was a problem either) but the actress of 16 years old who plays Mary is pregnant by her boyfriend.
The juxtoposition and irony of the situation is worth pointing out, I think. Mary of Scripture is someone to emulate and shows what Christians ourght to be like while the actress shows how very like the Romans our culture and the people in it are.
I'm just glad she will not be aborting, and I pray she and her boyfriend and child encounter Jesus soon.
